Decatur 1310
Branding, Naming, and Exterior Renering
Luxury Residences | Washington, D.C.
1310 Decatur is a ground-up residence in Northwest Washington, D.C. Its address carries the name of Commodore Stephen Decatur, the naval hero whose Lafayette Square home stood as the first private residence built beside the White House. Two centuries later, the name returns to a house built entirely new.
Our Role
Our work focused on creating a brand identity and an exterior renderin that honor the home’s historic significance while presenting it as a vision of contemporary luxury.
01
Brand Identity
We began by shaping the essence of the Otis brand - developing an identity that reflects timeless elegance and the distinguished character of its Washington, D.C. setting. From there, we crafted a visual language that included:
- A bespoke quatrefoil mark, drawn from the brand monogram and framed by the numerals of the address
- A three-part type system pairing Tamil MN, Fahkwang, and Inter, moving from classical to contemporary across logo, headline, and body
- A palette rooted in warm, natural tones: soft porcelain, terracotta, deep cocoa, and dark espresso
- A brand philosophy centered on warmth, craftsmanship, and a timeless sense of place
